Made some eggs benedict this morning with the new egg poacher I bought. They were super delicious. I guess I kind of blew having a low-fat breakfast by drowning the egg in hollandaise sauce. Oh well, it was fantastic. You only live once, and hearts can't last forever.

I spent a week in Arizona, very little visiting with people, and very much homework. I can't wait until June, when I will actually get to unwind, it's going to rule!

Also, I am hating facebook more and more nowadays. I used to love writing long extended accounts of my life on my myspace blog, and people would actually read it! Now, I get facebook and people's up-to-the-minute accounts of just random information. Kind of useless.

Blah. Just more complaining from me. 2 more days of AZ, then I am driving back, inland. I don't want to deal with California. That ish sucks big ones.

I streamed the movie "trancers" tonight. Here is the plot synopsis:

Jack Deth is a trooper in Angel City, circa 2247, mopping up the last of the disciples of the Martin Whistler. Whistler uses his psychic power to 'trance' those with weak minds and force them to obey his every desire. Whistler had been thought to be dead by now, but he's alive and well, and in the year 1985. Whistler's plan - to hunt down the ancestors of the City Council. With the Council disbanded, nothing is to stop Whistler from controlling the city. That's where Jack Deth fits in. Jack is sent back in time by inhabiting the body of his ancestor. The only problem is that Whistler's ancestor is a police detective, and he's begun trancing people back in 1985. With the help of Lena, a strong-minded punk rock girl, he must find and protect Hap Ashby, a former baseball pitcher now living on Skid Row, and face Whistler in a final confrontation.

I don't have that many aspirations for myself. I seem to be pretty much on the right track. I am a home owner, I am employed, I am going back to school, I don't smoke, I stopped drinking coffee, I've lost the weight I wanted to lose in 2009. I am already off to a really good start.

I guess 2010 goals include 1. doing really well in school 2.writing more music 3. eating a little better. 4. pay down personal credit debt. 5. getting more organized 5.remember more birthdays

kind of lame.

I don't have any kind of like.. gnarly drug addiction to battle. I don't have some crazy cancer to fight. I am a fortunate person I suppose.

I picked up this rad lamp today from goodwill in Tukwila. It's totally custom I think, it has a mixture of "unique charm" and "should I feel comfortable looking at this?" to it.

we've been having a hard time determining the age of the girl who is seductively holding her clothes to her face.

still, it's a unique lamp. Not something you see every day. It was just sitting there for $1.99, I had to get it.

finally got an interface set up between the real world and the inside of my computer, and boy is it a brilliant sample rate, I can record at 96khz! daaaaang. Also, it's rendering my audio at 32bit, which it isn't supposed to do, and it's causing some strange glitches However if I could record my audio at 32 bit I would be set. hmmmmmm.

I think I should scale down the sample rate unless I am going to record something "for real" either that, or burn each session to disc so it doesn't eat up my drive. I am so paranoid about running out of space now. Even though a 128 gb internal drive is pretty big, I now have a device capable of 96khz! that's kind of a big deal if you are an audiophile. To break it down, that is the sample rate, it takes 96 thousand samples per second, this allows for a very accurate representation of the input being sent in, however it makes huge ass files files, rather quickly. going 32 bit improves headroom, however it multiplies the file size problem with higher sample rates.

this sucker burns DVDs, so I guess I can just back up any major sessions on DVD.

I can't wait for this weekend, I am going to apply some musical elbow grease, and try to pump out a tune or two.

nobody's perfect.

I had a very ranty blog last night that I hope nobody got a chance to read. It was so very negative. I can't believe that the new itunes forces you to put in credit card info in order to really use itunes. I don't think I will every buy anything in their store, I have gotten by for this long without it, I don't need it now. There are a slew of local business that I would rather support if I need some fresh media. Oh, and if I buy the cd the ACTUAL cd, I don't have to mess around with apple's ridiculous DRM. I buy cds still anyway. good.

made a little progress on the scoot scoot tonight. it's still in a million pieces, but I got the crank out that I put in but messed up, so I had to remove it. it's been the longest ordeal. Mostly because I am just postponing spending the actual money to buy the crank. such an expensive little hunk of metal.

ALSO I got the toilet unplugged. I swear someone else took a dump in it and clogged up the works. I would know if it was me! I just went in there on sunday evening and it just wasn't going anywhere. We did have a lot of people at the house on sunday, but I am not pointing any fingers. I drano'd and then plunged the crap out of it (literally). Whatever was jammed in there must have been crazy big. probably a dead rat.

Myke brought over the MOTU unit, I think I might try to get a little recording done this weekend. I am able to play the new song and sing it, I wrote it independently of playing guitar at the same time, so I had to train myself a little bit, wasn't that hard. I need to do some more of that, it's a lot easier to write lyrics when you aren't playing guitar at the same time. my multi-tasking can only go so far, and as I am getting older, I am noticing a little bit of the slowing in rapid multi-tasking.

I am posting now from my macbook. I have to admit, I like this thing way more that I thought I would. Everything is uber-duber slick, and just aesthetically pleasing. I never really gave a hoot about that before, but I think it appeals to my inner neat freak.

Maybe I will start dressing better. Maybe I will become so organized they will write a book about me. 'Jesse Maxwell: man? or myth? - the underbelly of organizational mastery and other tales of lore'

I hope to be the envy of someone, who like me, has a deep inner urge to be clean and tidy, but can't bother to invest the time that it normally takes to do so. I can't believe how much time you can really blow on being organized. I mean, the trick is to break it up into little chunks, but that merely disguises that true amount of time invested.

Also, thanks to my macbook, I have picked up a really slick app called "writeroom" , which is just a full screen text editor that looks hella old school. It's actually good in the fact that it blocks out all the distractions that normally pop up when I attempt to write. I swear I feel my heart rate slow a little bit when I really get into what I writing. Normally sitting at a computer is kind of a stressful situation. I feel like I am on a timer, or I have to finish something in a certain amount of time, so I rush through almost everything I do on a computer. It is nice to just slow things down a notch for once.

I have a loan about to blow open so I can buy a mac book. I am kind of nervous leaving the comfort of my sweet pc world that I have come into my own with. why macc? and why now?

well, they just look awesome, and the performance is supposed to be pretty top notch compared to pcs, so... we'll see. as I write this, I am sitting at a linux system.

I just need my fucking expense mixer to work without any issues so I can play my music and record and edit video , etc without many problems. considering that I haven't bought a computer since 2003, I figure it's about time to take the plunge.

the interest all comes back to me anyway, 401k loans are sweeeeet.

1. I accidently obliterated my MBR , luckily all of my important data is stored on my external drive. (really good purchase).
2. I now have and extra 30 gig drive, so I installed ubuntu studio on it. pretty slick, and with a little tinkering, I was able to get the mackie mixer to work on it. So now, I can do recordings on truly free software, as opposed to technically ripped off software.
3. we went into the house we're buying. boy oh boy, is that place a mess. nothing too costly, but the people that were living there were just... cretins. the walls are just caked with ... black smudges, there is grease all over the carpet, food stains, wine. there are two busted doors, a fist sized hole in the stair well, my bath tub stopped draining in my future room. (drained at the inspection, apparently). oh , and someone stole the washer and dryer.

so, a lot of painting, a little patching, new carpets and a washer and dryer, and I'll have a practically new house. the joys of home ownership.

we still got a really good deal. it has a sweet view and it's pretty effin' big.

I get home from work, and there is one of those junk mailer packets in the mail. I usually toss those things out, but for some reason I decided to go through it. I flip past all the ads for triple dipple pained windows, extermination companies, drugstore ads and then there it is: a coupon for zippy's, my FAVORITE burger place. I hand-ripped out the coupon leaving feverish looking tattered edges. I then felt down to my belly, and I tormented myself for a good 30 minutes about going there. I really am trying to watch my weight and my wallet. I finally decided against going, and I started bragging to a few friends about my awesome willpower. They were like "zippy's is really good, I don't know how you did it".

I carried on with the rest of my evening and then my room mate came home. within 2 seconds of walking in the door, she eyes the zippy's coupon which I foolishly left on the table. She held it up in the air and stated "ZIPPY'S ! sweet! let's go"

all my effort and willpower instantly flush down the toilet. 20 seconds later we are in the car. "did you grab the coupon?" I ask , "doh! I'll get it it!" roomy runs back up to house and retrieves the war torn coupon from our kitchen.

so we eat at zippy's, and it was like realization of a dream. it tasted just as good as i thought it would, and maybe even a little better.

we get back to the house, and i go in my room and start playing guitar. i am in one of those swivelly office chairs and it starts to spin in a circle while i am playing. I think to myself, that was kind of cool, so i keep going. the guitar playing is getting louder and more energetic as i spin faster and faster. I go on like this for a good 5 minutes, just rocking the hell out while the room spins around me, all blurry and out of focus.

then i stop playing. i stopped pushing myself, but the room is still spinning and very fast at that. nausea instantly overtakes me and i ran out the back door.
